Phantasmaphobia
Phantasmaphobia 2022
Using a surveillance camera system, projectors and simple kinetic elements such as discoballmotors, fans and inflatables I used the incoming data captured by surveillance cameras, to be projected on the moving reflective surfaces, resembling neurons being fired by the brain. To me this was a way to visualise the neurons fired in our brains as well as drawing parallels with the feeding amd giving up our data to become parts of algorithm as something beautiful as something uncanny and put of control.
The titel phantasmafobia, the fear of ghosts is both referencing to the old camera technique of the peppers ghost whilst simultaneously questioning the traces we leave behind online and in the real world that could possibly hunt us.
made for Big Dada, curated by Kim Milk and Arjen Lancel at Arti et Amicitae, Amsterdam
Performance during Museum Nacht Amsterdam 2022
Made Possible by Mondriaan Fonds
